Summary: FERPA defines "directory information" as information contained in the education records of a student that would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed.
Jeffco has further defined Directory Information as:
- Student Name
- School-based email address
- Participation in official activities and sports
- Weight & height of athletic team participants
- Dates of school attendance
- Grade Level
- School enrollment status
- Honors and awards received
- Most recent schools attended
- Photographic, video, or electronic images maintained by the district of students engaged in classroom and extracurricular programs, activities, and other school functions
Under law and policy, Jeffco may only disclose student Directory Information. Staff will limit disclosures as defined in policy and verify families' opt out preferences as indicated in the JPS Opt Out Report.
Parents enter their opt out preferences during Online Registration (OLR) or the Annual Update period. For additional information, please contact your student's school.
